Please help Brian find a job in the extremely-tight San Francisco high-tech market!
I have never put advertising on this site - until now.

I originally posted here about moving to the San Francisco Bay area in mid-September 2001 in search of work. Well, the sad events of September 11th stopped that plan, even though I kept looking. The market there was just ..."crappy", and showed no signs of improving. Companies, when they have positions open at all, are getting dozens to hundreds of applicants. In such an environment, it is REALLY hard to get noticed. Very few are even making courtesy call-backs (which I find more than mildly irritating...)

It occurred to me that I should make use of this site that is seen by so many to "catch the eye" of potential employers in my new area.

A good number of the readers here work in high-tech companies in the Bay area or work for companies that have a presence there. You may even be in charge of or have the ear of someone in HR at such a company. It is to you that I am writing this...I am still looking for that golden "Bay-Area position"

If you know of any positions or situations in the Bay area or companies that are hiring (even telecommuting opportunities) - with your company or with another, I would deeply appreciate any assistance that can be mustered on my behalf.

My work and education experience
My educational experience includes a couple bachelor's degrees, one in computer science, and the other in a Japanese language-centric area (which goes mostly unused these days.) My work experience thus far (without getting into TOO many details...) has been about 7 years in Software Quality Assurance with a couple of the huge behemoth software makers in the Seattle area - both with black box and white box testing. You can email me for more information/clarification/etc., as well as a version of my resume in other document formats.)

Of course, on the side, you probably MAY know about this "other" little project I have been working on for several years (this site), which I hope demonstrates SOME of my web development (I have avoided complexity in the design and interface in exchange for a more efficient user experience) and organizational skills (this 600+ page site is all my "fault" (creation.))

To list a few buzzwords, I am obviously pretty damn fluent in HTML and CSS, and I have a lot of experience with XML and SGML DTDs. I have done more than a fair amount of Perl (especially with regular expressions) and have used Javascript extensively too. I have been dabbling in Java development lately, but I am still a novice - I would like to do expand that knowledge in the future.

Hopefully, the attention to detail and thoroughness I devote to this site demonstrates SOMEthing to prospective employers.

Final words: Please help if you can!
If you are in charge of hiring at a Bay area company, KNOW someone who is, or if you know of opportunities (even telecommuting opportunities!), please let me know.

I am looking for a position doing web development and/or Software QA - I figure that job descriptions, responsibilities, resumes and pricing expectations on both ends can be communicated further in email.

Thank you in advance to all who have read this - your time is, as always, appreciated!
